Warren Grant Oaks Jr.

January 24, 1946 — July 27, 2023

Warren Grant Oaks Jr. 77, a resident of Cleveland, passed away peacefully on Thursday July 27, 2023 at his family residence surrounded with his loving family by his side. He worked for several years alongside his stepfather, Dowell "Freeway" Simpson, at Freeway Motors in Cleveland, back in the 70's. He was then employed by Westvaco and Weyerhaeuser Paper Co. for over 25 years until his retirement in 2004. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church. He loved fishing, hunting, watching NASCAR racing, westerns, and listening to gospel music. He also enjoyed spending quality time with his four legged beloved friend, Roscoe.

Preceded in death by his father, Warren Grant Oaks Sr.; mother and stepfather, Betty Jean Simpson and Dowell Serdric Simpson; and sister, Joyce Baker.

Those left to cherish his sweet memories are his beloved wife of 43 years, Virgie Oaks; daughter, Kristy and Randall Gladson; son, Clyde and Jessica Oaks; children from previous marriage, Maxine Handy, and Jimmy Oaks; grandchildren, Shawn Gladson, Ashley Gladson, Sade Griggs, Lea and Dakota Emerson, Charles Handy, Heather Kent; Great grandchildren, Bryson and Bryanna Kent, Hayleah, Brent, and Aryanna Handy, Jace and Gatlin Emerson; siblings, Linda and Bob Levy, Donnie Hodge, Marylynn Copper, Janice and Mike Knowles, Gary Hodge; beloved niece Tammy Ramsey and nephew Jackie Boatman.; special longtime family friend, Dennis Branham, son- Stacey Branham, and daughter- Tina Branham.

He will be greatly missed and loved by all his friends and family.
