Robert Edson Hoffman

September 15, 1944 — January 9, 2021

Robert Edson Hoffman, 76, of Cleveland TN, passed away unexpectedly Saturday January 9th, 2021. Robert was born on September 15th, 1944 in Ontario, Oregon. He grew up in Texas graduating from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.S. and M.S. in Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics. After college he moved to San Francisco, CA where he met and married Bonnie A. Holsbach of Rio Creek, WI. They resided in San Mateo, CA, where they had their daughter Sarah, until their divorce in 1991. Robert then relocated to Boise, ID to be closer to his parents. Robert was an avid professional working in the areas of business modeling, computer programming, and operations management for Lockheed Missiles, Earl and Wright, IBM, and Idaho Power. He also wrote numerous structural analysis/design technical publications and devoted time to the development of his own application/software development company, Mann Creek Software. During his last years, he compiled an expansive family genealogy dating back 27 generations (www.manncreek.com/gen) and lived off the Tennessee land, clearing trails for next generations to enjoy. He will always be remembered as a devoted father and son, as an avid tennis player, and for his witty, dry sense of humor. To say he will be missed, is an understatement. He leaves behind his daughter Sarah R. Hoffman of Minneapolis, MN and is preceded in death by his mother, Retha Ineta Adams of Weiser, ID, and father, Robert Edson Hoffman Sr. of Los Angeles, CA.
