Kelly Annette Thomas Ellis

January 16, 1969 — January 14, 2019

Kelly Annette Thomas Ellis, 49, passed away Monday, January 14, 2019.

Kelly was born in Chattanooga, TN. and resided there for the majority of her life.

Kelly was preceded in death by her husband Steve Ellis, father Douglas Allen Thomas I and her grandparents on both sides.

Kelly is survived by her daughter Meagan Alana Israel, her two beloved granddaughters Serenity Olivia Israel and Lilliana Nimian Herrera, her mother Eleanor Blevins Thomas, sisters Beverly Ann Thomas and Candace Thomas Layne, brother Douglas Allen Thomas II (Deanne), nieces and nephews Nichole Lynette Ingram, Michelle Ann (Adiel) De Leon, Courtney Elizabeth Thomas, Douglas Allen Thomas III, Emily Dawn Thomas and Jeremiah Knollen Layne. As well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Kelly was the second of four children born to Doug & Eleanor Thomas. She bounced into their lives with love and continued all through her life to share that love with everyone she came in contact with. Kelly was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She went to school to earn her degree in Early Childhood Education and spent most of her life working with children. Kelly was a colon cancer survivor and had been in remission for almost 15 years. Throughout those years she had countless procedures and surgeries but always kept her head up. She was an absolute warrior. Her love for her family kept her going. She truly enjoyed life, loved spending time with her family and always sharing her new favorite song with everyone around her. She was the most thoughtful person any of us had ever met.  Above all else, her greatest joy came from her two granddaughters. She lived every moment of her life for them and for their mother, her only child.

Kelly's services will be held on January 26, 2019 at 3:00pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Ooltewah-Ringgold Rd. Visitation with the family will be immediately after her service.

A private burial will follow later.
