Dexter Gardenhire

February 20, 1956 — October 14, 2020

Dexter Allen Gardenhire, 64, of Chattanooga passed away Wednesday October 14, 2020. Dex was a graduate of Red Bank High School, and retired from the State of Tennessee with 30 years of service.

Dex was an avid motorcyclist. He was happiest while spending time with other cyclists and friends, especially at Bud’s Restaurant and Farm to Fork Restaurant. Dex enjoyed photography, fundraisers, and charitable events with the cyclists. He was well loved by his family and friends. He was also former owner of Slot Car Racing Track in Cleveland.

Dex was preceded in death by his dad, Ray Gardenhire; grandparents, Ruben (Edith) Gardenhire and Lonnie (Mary) Mangrum.

He is survived by his mother, Clara Dean Gardenhire of Chattanooga; daughter Penny (Ben) Ermer of Ringgold, Ga; brother Dwight (Debbie) Gardenhire of Pikeville; sister Pam (Charlie) German of Brewton, Ala.; granddaughter, Taylor Ermer; nephews, Brad Smith, Jared Gardenhire; and niece Brooke Howard.

Dex’s family would like to thank Bud’s Restaurant and Farm to Fork Restaurant along with the many friends who gave donations in Dex’s honor. Thank you for your time, kindness and love you have shown to our family and God bless you all.

There was a memorial service for Dex Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at Bud’s Restaurant.
