Connie Marie Williams

November 3, 1944 — November 2, 2020

Connie M. Williams, 75, passed on November 2, 2020. Born to the late Mary E. Burns McDaniel and Chester H. McDaniel of Ooltewah, Connie received her B.A. in Social Work from University of Chattanooga in 1966 and a Master’s from Vanderbilt (Peabody), 1969. She enjoyed her coworkers teaching at Smallwood School and Moccasin Bend. Connie was active in the Chattanooga Bar Auxiliary as a former President. She also served as President of the Stonehenge and Maggie Bluff homeowners associations, and on the Parent Councils at Bright School, McCallie School and Girls Preparatory School.

She loved gardening and took pride in her flowers and vegetables. She enjoyed traveling though Europe and North America with her family and friends. She loved her friends from the FDCC, DRI, TDLA, Chattanooga, Ooltewah and Lookout Mountain, where she was a member of the Lookout Mountain Club. She was a 50 year member of the First Baptist Church. In college, she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi, and honored as a Moccasin Beauty. She was one of the first majorettes at Ooltewah High School.

Throughout her life, Connie’s light brightened the lives of so many others. Since her death, her family has received an enormous outpouring of love and appreciation, truly a testament of how many souls she touched before hers was called away.

She left behind fond memories of her kindness, dedication to her friends and family, and her zeal for the happiness and love of life. She is survived by her husband of almost 50 years, Thomas A. Williams, her children Thomas A. Williams, Jr, M.D. (Jennifer R. Williams, M.D.) of Nashville, Mary W. Gadd (Jason B. Gadd) of Lookout Mountain, and her beloved grandchildren Alexa and Cate Williams of Nashville with whom she enjoyed activities like reading and crafts.

In lieu of flowers, she wished for donations to be made to McKamey Animal Center, whose mission is for the compassionate care of animals.

Services will be private at the National Cemetery, with a celebration of life planned at a future date.
