Eugene Gibson

Eugene Gibson, age 84, of Vonore, passed away Wednesday evening, December 9, 2015 at a local healthcare facility. Born on May 8, 1931 in Jefferson County to the late Porter and Katie Hurst Gibson, he had spent a majority of his life in Monroe County and was of the Baptist Faith. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, painting cars, and going to car sales. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Molly Stallans Gibson; brother, Carroll Gibson and great-granddaughter, Brittany Mae Winkler. He is survived by daughter, Kay Hylton and husband Ron of Tellico Plains; grandchildren, Melissa Grant of Madisonville, Roy Eugene Hawkins of Riceville, Josh Hylton of Tellico Plains, Mat Hylton of Tellico Plains; great- grandchildren, Patience Grand and Brian Winkler; niece, Becky Gibson of Newport and nephew, David Gibson of Newport. A celebration of Life and Home going of Eugene Gibson will be held at 8p.m. Sunday, December 13, 2015 from the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home with Brother Mitchell Payne officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 1p.m. on Monday December 14 , 2015 at Haven Hill Memorial Gardens for the committal service.
