Rella May Short , an angel to all who knew her, departed this earth suddenly on December 31st. She was seventy-seven and resided with her husband, Travis, in Reliance, Tennessee. She was born, Rella May Halford, September 13, 1938 in Baltimore Maryland, where she lived most of her life. She leaves behind an extended family and many loving friends, She is survived by her husband, Travis; sister, Lillian Mustin, brother, Robert (Bob) Kennedy, three children and spouses: Kathy Schmidt and her husband Jay, Don Fink and his wife Sue, and Steve Fink and his wife Tracy; and seven stepchildren: Travissa Hoffman, Jennifer Sjoblom, Jill Plymale, Travis Short, Jr., Timothy Short, Trent Short, and Lucy Short; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald Fink, her mother Ruth Kennedy, and her brothers, Fred Halford and Edwin Kennedy.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Serenity Funeral Home, Etowah, Tennessee. She will be taken to Baltimore, Maryland for final services and internment in Loudon Park Cemetery. Services in Baltimore will be provided by Loudon Park Funeral Home, dates and times to be announced.

Rella was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, whose affection and love for her five natural grandchildren, Jessica, Donald III, Vincent, Ashley and Samantha was unbounded. Rella was a generous and loyal friend of flawless character. She faced life bravely and unafraid. She was pure of heart, timid and unassuming, but with an unbreakable will when faced with adversity. She lived a life worthy of emulation and will be sorely missed by those she leaves behind.
