Shawna Joyce Merrell

Shawna Joyce Merrell, age 23, of Madisonville, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2016, at her residence. Born on November 18, 1992, she had lived the majority of her life in McMinn County and was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. She attended McMinn Central High School and loved motorcycles, singing, being outdoors, and spending time with her family.

She is preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Curtis Guffey ;and paternal grandmother, Annette Postelle Pack.

She is survived by daughter, Carlie Rigelesperger of Madisonville; mother, Carla Torbett and husband Jeff of Madisonville; father, Winston Merrell and wife Carol of Benton; maternal grandmother, Joyce Guffey of Etowah ;paternal grandfather Homer Merrell of Reliance; sisters, Crystal Hammond of Englewood, Tabitha Yearwood of Tellico Plains, Alison Thomas of Cleveland, Miranda Coker of Benton, Jessica Croft of Etowah, Megan Waldrop of Etowah; and brothers, Dwight Merrell of Etowah, Brady Coker of Benton and Gabriel Coker of Dalton, GA. Several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 8p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2016 from the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home with Brother Vernon Webb officiating. Interment will be private.

The family will receive friends from 5-8p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
