Ivan Lawson Snyder

April 12, 1947 — January 1, 2017

Ivan Snyder, age 69, of Etowah, passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2017, at his residence. Born on April 12, 1947 to the late William Glen and Elizabeth Jane Adams Snyder, he was a native and lifelong resident of McMinn County and a lifelong member of First Christian Church of Etowah. Ivan was a proud veteran of the United States Army and served his country in Vietnam and retired from CSX Railroad after 32 years of service. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Peggy Jane Snyder of Etowah; sons, David Snyder and wife  Mandy of Dallas, Georgia and Darrell Snyder and wife Tracy of Glenmont, New York; grandchildren, Keaton and Katie Snyder of Dallas, Georgia, Darrell, Calloway, Christian, Lilly , and Charlie Snyder of Glenmont, New York;  brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike and Angela Snyder, Bobby and Luthia Snyder, Jimmy  Snyder, and Billy and Theresa Snyder all of Etowah, and Chuck and Delores Snyder of Chucky, Tennessee. Several nieces, nephews, and other extended family and numerous friends also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00a.m.Thursday, January 5, 2017, with Reverend Doug Snyder and Reverend Jeff Blanchette officiating. Interment will follow in the Etowah City Cemetery with Keaton Snyder, Darrell Snyder, Calloway Snyder, Blake Snyder, Jamie Snyder, Alan Coleman and Nicki Mitchell will serve as pallbearers. Military Honors and a white dove release ceremony will conclude the services.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at the funeral home.
