Edna "Rose" Norwood

Rose Smith Norwood, age 80, of Etowah, passed away on Friday evening, April 21, 2017 , at Starr Regional Nursing Home and Rehab. Born in Benton on May 18, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Willie Belle McTaggert Smith and spent a majority of her life in McMinn County. She was a loving mother and grandmother and a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Anne Cox; brothers, Dewey Smith, Doyle Smith, and Albert Smith; and a brother-in-law, Glenn Burger.

She is survived by her son-in-law, Jerry Cox of Etowah; grandchildren, Jeri Anne Coleman and husband Dennis of Englewood and Jason Cox of Etowah; great-grandchildren, Samantha and Isabella Coleman; sister, Louise Burger of Delano and sister-in-law, Bernice Smith of Etowah. Several nieces, nephews, and other extended family also survive.

A graveside service will be conducted at 4p.m. Monday, April 24, 2017 at Hiwassee Union Baptist Church In Reliance with Reverend Jeff Blanchette officiating.

There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home.
