Larry Alan Ulery

February 4, 1946 — December 12, 2017

Larry Alan Ulery, age 71, of Englewood, passed away at his home on Tuesday, December 12, 2017. He was the son of the late Jacob Daniel Ulery and Maxine Sparks Ulery.

A native of Indiana, he had spent the majority of his life in Georgia and had spent the last 3 ½ years in McMinn County , and attended Wildwood Baptist Church.  He retired as Office Manager from the Cordele office of the Georgia Department of Labor after 32 years of service.

Larry was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Due to his service, he lost his hearing, but he never lost his pride for serving his country.

He was an avid fisherman, a great cook, veracious reader, and loved woodworking. He could do anything from building to electrical work, plumbing & appliance repair. He loved the ocean, the mountains, the NFL and his cats.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Baby Ulery; infant granddaughter, Emalyne Belle Medders; Father-in-law, Glenn Rowland; brother Donald Ulery, a niece Stacie Brantley and nephew Jason Brantley.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Ulery of Englewood; four children, Richard Ulery (Stacey) of Goshen, Indiana, Amy Brown (Tommy) of Alabama, Stephanie Moody of Waycross, Georgia, and Cayla Medders (Christian) of Riceville; nine grandchildren, Katie Ulery, Sarah Brown, Rebekah Brown, Thomas Brown, Kristie Moody, Marissa Moody, Sarah Medders, Tucker Medders, and Kash Medders; one sister, Connie Mauter, Indiana; Mother-in-law, Betty J. Rowland of Englewood; five sisters-in-law, Glenda Rowland of Athens, Carol (David) Brantley of Athens, and Marie Rowland of Athens, Susan Wenzel (Mike) of Knoxville, and Shamra (Greg) Hayes of Athens; two brothers-in-law, Frank Rowland (Lisa) of Athens and Roy Rowland of Englewood; nieces and nephews, Josh Wenzel (Sarah), Marty Wenzel (Jodi), Dustin Miller (Shasta), Jeremy Rowland, Amanda Hayes and Addyson Billings.

The funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Serenity Funeral Home of Etowah with Rev. Kelly Medders officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. on Thursday prior to the service.

The Graveside Service will be held on Friday, December 15, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.

Active pallbearers are, Rick Ulery, Christian Medders, Tucker Medders, Josh Wenzel, Marty Wenzel, Jeremy Rowland and Dustin Miller. Honorary pallbearers are Frank Rowland, David Brantley, Greg Hayes, Roy Rowland and Kash Medders.
