Millard Toomey

Mr. Millard Toomey, age 88 of Niota, passed away on December 27, 2017, at his residence.  He was born in North Carolina to the late Kermit Edward and Myrtle Cole Toomey, and lived the majority of his life in McMinn County as a homebuilder.  Millard was a member of the East Niota Baptist Church.  He loved gardening, fishing, and spending time with his family.

He was preceded by his parents; his wife of 67 years, Eva Grace Frisbee Toomey, who passed away on September 1, 2017; one daughter, Betty Sue Toomey;  three brothers and two sisters-n-law Oran Toomey, Frank and Wilma Toomey, Glenn and Ann Toomey; one sister and brother-n-law Ruth and Marvin Sweet.

Mr. Toomey  is survived by four children and their spouses, Joe and Pat Toomey of Niota, Bobby and Gail Toomey of Niota, Sharon Toomey of Niota and Steve Toomey of Niota; grandchildren, Kim Gibson, Jennifer (Chad) Moses, Stephanie (Chris) Clabough, Patrick Toomey, Brandon Black, and Chase Pack; six great grandchildren, Sarah Leamon, Caleb Maney, Peyton Moses, Paisley Moses, Cyler Clabough, Jaxson Clabough; and five great great grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Ellizabeth (Wilford) Sweet of Alcoa, TN.  Several nieces, nephews and other extended family also survive.

There will be a Graveside service at the Niota Cemetery on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. with  Brother Mike Toomey officiating.  Pallbearers will be Patrick Toomey, Brandon Black, Chase Pack, Chad Moses, Chris Clabough and Robert Lowery, and honorary pallbearers will be Peyton Moses and Spider Burns.  A white dove release will conclude the graveside service.
