Charles Woodrow Wilson, Jr

Charles Wilson, November 15, 1932- April 9, 2018, passed away at his home.  Son of the late Woodrow and Lily McCormack Wilson, he was a native and lifelong resident of McMinn County. He served 24 years in the United States Air Force and 22 years at the McMinn County Sheriff’s Department. He was a member of New Zion Baptist Church and the new Zion Community.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy Wilson. Grandmother, Mary Wilson, Brother, Clayburn Wilson, and infant sister, Virginia Wilson. He is survived by his sister, Irene Evans of the New Zion Community, his children, Susan and Tim Woody of Belleville, Michigan, Mike and Denise Wilson of Lenoir City, and Patricia and Ronald Martin of Etowah; grandchildren, Amanda and Zachary Patterson of Delano, Christy and Josh McClure of Chattanooga, Zach and Meagan Wilson of  Decatur and Shawn and Ashley Wilson of Fort Walton, Florida. Several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a special friend Jan Bushman of Athens.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7p.m. on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 from the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home with Reverend Michael Coleman officiating.

Graveside services will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at New Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with Full military honors and a white dove release ceremony concluding the services.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
