Billy Franklin Rogers

 Billy Franklin Rogers, age 85, of Etowah, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, August 15, 2018, at his home.  He was a native of Benton until his marriage and moved to Etowah 53 years ago. He was retired from Textron in Athens, and previously worked at Beaunit of Etowah.  He served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1961 and was a member of Goodsprings Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clevis and Mamie Jones Rogers; infant daughter, Melissa Gayle Rogers; first wife, Betty Bradford Rogers; brother, Bobby Rogers; sister, Helen Malone; brother-in-law, Danny Bivens; and sister-in-law, Janie and Sam Creasman.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 53 years, Sara Gail Bivens Rogers of Etowah; daughter, Janet Marie Rogers of Benton; brother-in-law, Jerry Malone of Benton; sister-in-law, Jean Rogers of Benton; brother-in-law, Ronnie and Pat Bivens of Benton; nephews, Tim and Pam Rogers of Benton, Randy and Lisa Bivens of Cleveland, Rodney Creasman of Niota; nieces, Kimberley and Greg Wilson of Benton, Kelly and Troy Hicks of Benton, Tanya Bivens of Benton, Angie Tuten of Niota, Stephanie and Bo Shugart of Riceville, Inga and Ty Acebedo of Calhoun, Danielle Bivens and Jessica and Benjamin Panilla of Oklahoma City, OK; special wife’s Cousin Phyllis and Hershell Casteel of Etowah; and special neighbors, Arnold and Joanne Rogers of Etowah.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7p.m. Saturday, August 18, 2018 from the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home with Brother Richard Mason and Brother David Lonas officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5-7p.m. Saturday prior to the service.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday, August 20, 2018 at Goodsprings Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors concluding the services.
