Kathryn Hawkins

Kathryn Z. Hawkins, age 82, resident of Cleveland, TN, passed away Friday, December 25, 2009, at a Collegedale, TN healthcare facility. She was an L.P.N. and worked many years in the nursing profession in the Cleveland area. She worked at Bradley Memorial Hospital and Life Care Center of Cleveland. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She attended West Cleveland Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mack K. Hawkins, her parents, Maude and Paul Zimmerman, sister, Elizabeth Arrowood, brothers, Bruce, Max and Bill Zimmerman.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Lynn Nipper and Kent of McDonald, TN, Diana Miller and Charles of Hamilton, MT, Melba Slater and Chuck of Cleveland, TN and Janice Carroll and Rick of Cleveland, TN; sisters, Frankie Wells of Ooltewah, TN, Beatrice Zimmerman of Brasstown, North Carolina, Betty Jean Dietz of Hayesville, North Carolina and Edith Willis of Young Harris, GA; brothers, Pete Zimmerman of Young Harris, GA and Hoyt Zimmerman of Charlotte, North Carolina. 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at 4:00 p.m. at Grissom Funeral Home with Dr. Jay McCluskey officiating. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Paul Wells, David Hawkins, Chris McGill, Perry Dietz, Jimmy Zimmerman and Brian Charlesworth serving as pallbearers.

The family requests memorials be made to the Nursing Program c/o Cleveland State Community College.
