Tommy Willis

May 22, 1968 — June 16, 2017

On Friday, June 16, 2017, Tommy Willis earned his eternal reward and met our Lord and Savior face to face.  He joined his oldest son, John Thomas, for their first Father’s Day together in heaven. 

Tommy loved his wife, cherished his children, honored his parents, helped his friends and served his church in every way possible. To know Tommy is to love him and Tommy was loved by so many people, in so many places.  Tommy Willis never met a stranger and burst into any room, anywhere with a smile and a story for everyone.

His first love was Lisa Stowe Willis and his children, Taylor Willis, Matthew Willis and Zachary Willis.

Tommy graduated from Lee College in 1991 and has pursued his passion for trumpet playing from the Lee Singers, to the Spurlows, to every Choir and Orchestra of every Church of God, he ever attended. 

He grew up in Danville, VA at River Oak Church of God and while in Cleveland, TN he attended Westmore Church of God.

He will be loved and missed by his immediate family, his Church family, his Orchestra family, his Operation Compassion family and his God’s Pit Crew family.

He was preceded in death by Robert & Virgie Hall, grandparents, Walter & Mary Frances Willis, grandparents and John Thomas Willis, son.

He is survived by family members: Lisa Willis, Taylor Willis, Matthew Thomas and Autumn Willis, Zachary Thomas Willis, Tommy & Betty Willis, Sr., Robin and Chip Lawrence, Caleb and Grace Lawrence.

Services in Cleveland, TN will be held at Westmore Church of God on Monday, June 19, 2017 with Visitation at 4:00 – 7:00 pm and Funeral Service at 7:00 pm.

Arrangements are being handled by Serenity Funeral Home of Cleveland. Cleveland Service Live Stream, Information please check the Westmore Church of God web page at

Visitation Service in Danville, VA will be held at the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel, 5858 Riverside Drive, Danville, VA 24541. Graveside Service will be held at the Danville Memorial Gardens in Danville, VA.

Serving as Pallbearers: Matthew Willis, Zachary Willis, Joshua Queen, Daniel Queen, Caleb Lawrence, Franklin Durden, Zach Brooks, Stacy Beaty and Nick Sapounakes.
