Carl Earnest Lindner

Carl Ernest Lindner, age 84, went home November 8, 2017, to have eternal life with his Lord after a short illness.  “Poppie” will be sadly missed by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a longtime member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church where he served on various committees and was a member of Methodist Men, Promise Keepers and Asbury Sunday School Class.  Carl served in the United States Navy during the Korean War, stationed in Hawaii and also aboard the USS Mount Olympus under the command of Admiral Radford of the Pacific Fleet.  He retired from TNT in Chattanooga and M&M Mars in Cleveland. Retirement for Carl meant he would work only part time rather than full time and he worked as the property manager for Broad Street Methodist Church and Waterville Baptist Church in later years.  But his true vocation was caring for the love of his life, his wife Nancy.  

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Clifford E. and Bessie Mae Lindner, sisters Virginia Jo Davis and Catherine Vassey, and brother Delane Lindner.  He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nancy Chambers Lindner.  Carl and Nancy were school sweethearts since she was thirteen years old and he was fifteen. He is survived by children Michael Conn Lindner and Connie, Kimberly Karl Burns and James, Mark Allen Lindner and Sherrie White; grandchildren Casey, Nicholas, April, Tish and Mark; great grandchildren Kelsie, Maddie, Gracie, Ava Claire, Knox, Kadden, Titus, Haden, Tyler and Kayleigh; sisters in law Sandra Hamilton and Betty Lindner; many wonderful nieces and nephews; life long friends Pat and Sonny Hicks.  

Reverend Chris Rouse will preside at a private family memorial service at Wesley Memorial Church Garden. The service will include a military honor guard, a white dove release ceremony, and a red balloon release by great grandchildren representing a piece of each child’s heart.
